Number of workers on site does not meet, all coffee farms are forced to hire workers outside the province, which led to many consequences ...

Worries shorthanded

These days, in the key areas of coffee growing areas of the Central Highlands as the Ia Grai district, Dak Doa (Gia Lai), Dak Song District, Dak R'Lap, Gia Nghia town (Dak Nong), district Dak Ha (Kon Tum), Cu M'Gar, Krong Pach (Dak Lak) ..., coffee farmers are to run around, run thorough hiring harvest. According to some coffee growers in the district of Ia Grai District (Gia Lai), each hectare of coffee to gather dozens of workers. Nguyen Duc Anh-owner of a large coffee farm 8 hectares in the town of Ia Kha, Ia Grai district, said: "Last week, I had the phone for the" hub "used in the provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nam Dinh, they all appointments will be available the next two, but until now have never seen anyone ".

In the town of Dak Doa, Dak Doa district, where workers gathered from lowland areas to find work in the coffee harvest, on Highway 19 there are many coffee farmers stand to welcome and find the coffee pickers. Mr. Tran Van Nhon, Ia Sao commune, Ia Grai district worry: "I was waiting for 2 people from Ha Tinh on since morning but had not yet seen." His family has 2 hectares of coffee Nhon are required to harvest about 10 pickers, but this time he only found 5 people, the rest are due to an acquaintance introduced.

In recent years, the situation of theft occurs frequently so everyone wants to enlist the previous harvest from being stolen. Consequently, the labor shortage becomes more severe. In fact the situation has occurred among workers scramble coffee farms, making labor costs are "team" would be high and the cost of the larger coffee growers. Mr. Le Van Vinh, Dak La commune, Dak Ha district (Kon Tum) said: "3 years ago, the price of labor to harvest coffee at around 30,000-40,000 VND / person / day, this has increased 90.000- VND100,000 / person / day, but still very hard to find. But not everyone knows coffee pickers, without guidance they can defoliate, broken branches ".

And the implications ...

Central Highlands coffee has more than 430,000 hectares are entering harvest, so is the large number of labor required to pick coffee. Meanwhile, local workforce is insufficient to meet, so workers in the province are the choice of coffee growers. According to leaders Pah Coffee Company, this year's harvest of coffee workers from the provinces flock to the Central Highlands will be very crowded. Central understandable because of flooding, damaged farms, difficult life, they will come to the Central Highlands coffee pickers hired. The "import" seasonal workers in the Central Highlands region will lead to more complex movements on social order and safety, especially in the garden thefts and other social evils. Si Pham Khac, Dak Min District (Dak Nong) said: "The state workers harvesting coffee after finishing rental, spare time they go to the other coffee cultivation coffee glean. They glean the little coffee loss that takes advantage of all loopholes and steal shifting to coffee pickers, many. Last year, my family has hired 15 workers to pick coffee, the early days, everything is fine, but the end of the day some people would gather in the fields drinking coffee now and then quarrel, scuffle, I have to they stay although not harvested coffee ".

To ensure social order and safety in the area, since mid-2010, the local government has taken several measures to closely manage the seasonal labor force coming from the provinces.
